This image was captured in the Point Lobos Marine Sanctuary on the central coast of California. Millions of years ago this rock structure was formed by the ocean lapping away at the surface of this rock, exposing the many layers of the previous ocean floor. If you look carefully, you may see a face with a frown on it.
This image was entered and won an award in the 2015 San Mateo County Fine Art Galleria in the color abstract category.
Alan Hart - Photographer: After many years of film photography with a focus on mountaineering in the western U.S., I moved to digital photography in 2007. My photography has since been focused on landscapes, architecture, wildlife, and flora and is now venturing into the abstract. I enjoy black & white photography just as much as color with each having its own strength. Traveling throughout the U.S. and across the world has generated a wide variety of photographic subjects over the last four decades . . . but there are always more images to see and capture and pictures to make.
